Third Grade Explorations in Learning
While learning about rainforests, every student focused on a special plant or animal. Lucy and Tia worked together to learn about the magnificent ocelot. Check out their voicethread:
Here is a picture of an ocelot at night. It was taken by a motion detector camera in Gallon Jug, Belize where our video-chat buddies live.

Dear Lucy and Tia,
Wow! I learned an awful lot about ocelots from your fantastic VoiceThread! I did not know that the ocelot was a relative of the jaguar. What a beautiful cat!
I was wondering, what is the lifespan of an ocelot?
Thanks for a great presentation!

Dear Mrs. Yollis,
We just found out the ocelot is on the endangered species list. They do not only live in the Rainforest. They also can live in Mexico, Texas and many other places.
In a zoo an ocelot can live for 20 years, but in the wild they live for 7 to 10 years.
