The Pringle Project!

The Pringle Project!

Last month we started a project with our Canadian blogging buddies, class 3L from Alberta. They were studying building and testing while we were studying properties of matter, so we came up with a project to see if we could mail a single Pringle chip to each other without the chips breaking. Here is a link to their post  “Excellent Engineering” that talks about the project.

Teamwork

We worked in teams of 3-5 to plan, construct, and test a 6″x 6″ box to safely take our chips 3,000 miles by truck. After some trials and adjustments, off they went!

The Results – part 1

We opened the packages from Canada this week. We are going to share their results on our blog, while they are going to share our results on their blog. This post will have the results from 2 packages, the other packages will be shared in future posts.

Team 1: “The Purple Cows(opened in Connecticut by “The indestructible Dragons”)

The package had a solid layer of Styrofoam on the top.

Team 2: “The Pringles(opened in Connecticut by “The Yankees”)

The top layer had plenty of newspaper.

Underneath the newspaper was a small snack container,

And inside, wrapped in paper towels, was another perfect chip!

Congratulations to The Purple Cows and The Pringles!

Stay tuned to find out how the other chips arrived.

    Hi Mr. Salsich!
It’s strange to think they could get the pringle in the box without breaking it! Let alone it having to survive kids grabbing paper and stuff trying to get it.I would never of thought of that for an experiment about matter!
    Sincerely,
    Tommy from Techie Kids.
