Dear Mr. Salsich’s Class,
Great reading once again, and another four super poems! We are really enjoying your poetry madness, and A Room with a View has gone MAD for poetry too! Thank you for inspiring us.
This week, I choose the Jabberwocky, because I love trying to guess what on earth those words could possibly mean, and whatever combination you choose gives a different meaning to the poem. I like the dramatic way you read it, too! I don’t think that is an easy one to read out loud at all, so hats off, guys.
We shall listen in class tomorrow morning, and I’ll let you know if the class comes to the same decision as me – they didn’t last week, and their choice won!!! Oh No!

Dear Students,
I loved all the readings today. Every one of you read with care and precision and very fine pronunciation. It was wonderful to listen to the poems.
I chose Jocelyn’s reading of “Migration” as my favorite. It’s a lovely poem, and she read it in a stunningly beautiful way.
Sincerely,
Mr. Hamilton Salsich

Hi students,
I really enjoyed all the poems and everyone did a great job but I chose Mosquito because it made me laugh. You read it with great voice that were just right for a funny poem.

I chose ‘Migration’. I thought it was read very well and on a beautiful Spring day like I’m enjoying right now, it’s easy to imagine all the birds flying back to England on their long migrations.

Our class vote is almost unanimous… we have mainly voted for Mosquito for the following reasons:
It was very well read
We liked the fact that it was about kids
It had some great rhymes in it
It was humorous and we enjoyed the funny rhymes
But mainly…
We love the way you say ‘bottom’!

Dear Mr Salsich’s class
I like how you are doing a poetry tournament each week, it sounds cool. We are doing an activity at school where we have to buddy up with a partner and read out a poem. Me and my partner are doing a poem called Flander’s Field, which is a battlefield where the Australians and New Zealanders fought during World War One, which then became a cemetery for the dead soldiers.
If I were in your class I would choose the Jabberwocky poem because it sounds really interesting and intriguing.
Did you have to have to have a certain number of votes to get a poem into the top four?
Yours sincerely
