Third Grade Explorations in Learning
Today is our last day of school before summer vacation!
We have had a great year together and have learned so many things. Luckily we have the blog to remember it all. You can always re-read posts, watch videos, or listen to voicethreads from the year by using the “tag cloud” or the archives on the sidebar.
Here is a slideshow with pictures from the first day of school right up until Field Day.

Thanks to all of our blogging buddies, commenters, and followers that have helped us learn and given us support and ideas!

Mr. Salsich’s class, I am new to learning about blogs but have enjoyed researching all your class blog has to offer. Looks like you had a pretty fun year!

I have had the MOST exciting year following your blog. You have allowed me to revisit my grade school learning experieces with my grandson, Creighton, all from a distance. It has given us things in common to talk about, books to discuss and favorite poems to vote for!! Remarkable is the only word for this year! My congrats to “the Teacher of the Year” and his class of 2012! Thank you, thank you.

Dear Mr. Salsich,
I learned a lot in your class but its so hard to leave the class room on the last day of school with out crying because you are the best teacher I EVER HAD! My math facts have improved a lot since second grade. I think you make learning SUPER AWESOME! and SO FUN! I have had so many learning adventures in third grade, like learning about ospreys adaptations, and learning about native americans. I hope I see you in fourth grade. One of my favorite memories of the year was when me and luke got lost in the mystic aquarium and when we saw the beluga whale that was trying to eat my head off.
Your best student,
Anthony
P.S YOU ARE THE AWESOME TEACHER IN THE HISTORY OF DEANS MILL SCHOOL TEACHERS!

Dear Anthony,
I am so glad you had a great year in third grade! I also had a lot of fun teaching you and learning with you. Your math facts definitely improved, and so did your reading and writing. You are a very good writer, especially when you are interested in the subject that you are writing about.
It would be too hard for me to pick a favorite memory from the year, but the beluga whale at the aquarium was very funny. But he wasn’t trying to eat your head off, that is just the way he says hello.
Have a marvelous summer full of adventures!
From,
Mr. Salsich

Dear Mr Salsich and class,
I love the post you have put on and it seems that you have had a great year.
Sorry, I didn’t say I am Clancy from 4KJ in Leopold.

One of my favourite posts you have put up on your fantastic blog this year was the Tail Trail.
You part was very intereting and funny at the same time but I mostly loved the pictures you guys drew.
They were fantastic!
Good luck for the holidays,
Clancy

Dear Mr. Salsich and class,
Hello, I’m Skye from 4KJ, Australia.
What a wonderful post! I have loved your blog this year and seeing all the videos was very fun. I loved doing the Tail Trail, Mr Avery did a great job at coming up with the idea.
One of my favourite posts was the ones about Juan Pablo. The videos were hilarious and it made all of the students in 4KM and 4KJ laugh. I hope you do more of those posts with your next class.
I hope you have fun in grade four. I am in grade four right now. It’s basically the middle of grade four for me and it is the end of grade three for you.
From,
Skye

Dear Mr. Salsich (and class),
Hi,my name is Flora. I don’t know if you remember me (Mr. Salsich) but long ago I was in your class! Well, actually it was only four years ago. I’m now going into eighth grade. I can’t believe it! When I read about you in the paper today, congradulations on winning teacher of the year (you deserve it!!), I decided to take a walk down memory lane. The blog looks amazing, and I’m intrigued by the different things you’ve done this year.
Good Luck, and best wishes Mr. Salsich and your class of 2013

Dear Flora,
Thank you so much for the comment and the congratulations.
Of course I remember you! As you said, it wasn’t that long ago, but even after many years pass I will still remember you. You were a fantastic writer (and still are I’m sure), a voracious reader (I don’t think I’ve had a third grader read From The Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler since you), and you were a whiz at long division (and every other type of math). And, you taught us all some interesting lessons about reading, writing, and pronouncing Chinese. That was fun to have you as a guest teacher!
I’m sure you are excelling at school, sports, music, or whatever else you decide to pursue. Thanks for visiting, hopefully we can keep in touch and you can share your many accomplishments with me.
Your friend,
Mr. Salsich

Dear Mr. Salsich,
This was the best year ever. I loved how you taught and how you did so much activities too. I hope all the kids next year are well behaved. Well, as well behaved as us because if you can handle the class last year you will defenitly handle this year. Have a great summer.
Your last year student,
Luke (Big Cat Expert)
P.S. YOU ARE THE BEST TEACHER IN THE HISTORY OF TEACHERS

Dear Luke (a.k.a “big cat expert”),
Thanks once again for another wonderful comment on our blog! And thank you for the compliments about my teaching. I had so much fun learning with you and all of the other students this year. I am enjoying the summer vacation, but I do miss seeing all of you and sharing ideas together.
Here is a link to some cool videos of snow leopards from the Arkive site. On the side of the videos are some links to pages about other big cats.
Have a wonderful summer full of explorations!

Dear Mr. Salsich,
I miss you so much. I wish you moved up a grade and got the whole entire class from last year. This year we have something called DOL and you have to fix sentances and all that other stuff, it is really fun.
Your last year student,
Luke
