your most popular fix-up strategy? Mine is predicting.
When you get confused, just check for understanding, think about story parts, use picture clues. If you use these you might never have a problem again. If it is still confusing, get a new book.
When your hand feels better I would love to get your autograph! One thing I do when my reading gets confusing is I use fix up strategies like rereading or reading ahead for clues.
I think you are handsome and amazing!
I’d love to get an autoghraph when your hand (three fingers) feel better. That got me wondering, how do you write with three fingers?
Thank you for the compliment. I agree, I am rather handsome.
As for your question about how I write with three fingers, it is easier for me to type on the keyboard than to write with a pencil because I don’t have a thumb like you humans. So, my fingers can type okay (just slower than you), but it’s hard to hold a pencil without a thumb! You should try it sometime! That is why my hand gets tired when my fans ask me to sign autographs… But I do it because I don’t want to disappoint the people that love me.
First of all, thank you so much for all your wonderful comments! Your advice has helped me to become a better reader already. I have made a list of the strategies you suggested and this is what I came up with:
*Check for understanding at the end of each page.
*Back up and reread.
*Read ahead for clues.
*Use picture clues to figure out what is happening.
*Think about the story and what problem the character is trying to solve.
*Make mental images to picture what is happening.
*Read the blurb on the back.
*Look at the cover for clues.
*”Chunk” confusing words inro smaller parts.
This is a fantastic list of strategies to help with my comprehension. Thank you so much!
For those of you asking for my autograph, my hands are feeling better, so I will give some autographs to Mr. Salsich and he can hand them out to all the students (even the ones who said my eyes were kind of freaky)
How did you know how to put the laughing face on your comment? We have not even learned it in class yet. How do even do it, and how do you tipe on the computer with only three fingers? I think it is quite fascinating!
I agree with you also! You are VERY handsome, the most handsome green friend I know! I tried holding a pencil without my thumb and it was IMPOSSIBLE to write! Good thing you can type! I have been reading lots of books about playing Soccer to get better. Can you play soccer? You dont need a thumb for that! I also just borrowed Ricky Ricottas Mighty Robot book from our class library, I will let you know how it is.
I wanted to tell you when I get stuck on a sentence I go back and reread the sentence to see if it makes more sense the second time (then I ask my mom!) Do you have a mom? Is she green?
